Are You Moving to a Smaller Home?

Thank author of this post/comment

So someone in your household has left the nest and you are left with a smaller home. You now decide to move somewhere else where you can more easily clean the place and where you are bound to make less expenses. Moving to a smaller home has its perks, but it definitely has its problems as well, especially when it comes to packing and everything into the smaller home.

Wait right there. Who even said that you have to bother to pack and fit everything in the smaller home? You don't, because you don't have to. Your old household were assembled in such a way that you have one extra person at home. Now that that's one less, it's only appropriate that you also downsize on your furniture and throw away anything that you don't need.

This may sound difficult at first but, trust me, that is the imperative thing to do. Keeping those extra furniture and appliances away will just add to all the clutter. If you can, try to consolidate anything that can be combined together. This may include multiple toiletries that once served multiple bathrooms. The key thing to remember here is that you are trying to save a lot of space by disposing things that you don't need anymore. You have to do all of these planning while you are still in your current home, because you are bound to forget about it if they made their way to your new home.

You can do this planning by mapping each of the rooms or divisions in your current home into the new home. This way, you'll be able to sort out if you can fit the things in the room in the current home to that one in the new home. Take careful attention to the fluidity of movement inside the home. You don't want to end up not having any space to move around.

It definitely can be done if you will have the right attention towards it. Have the determination to purge everything in your old home or risk your new smaller home becoming a mess.
