We all have special places in our homes where we can go to whenever we feel troubled and frustrated with whatever problems that hit our way. Some choose to go to the kitchen, while some others just spend the time in their bedrooms, sleeping. For some others, it's the bathroom, where they can have all the privacy that they want. For other people, like me, the den is the place to be. Because that is where the aquarium fishes are.

I wouldn't say that I really really love aquarium fish, but I can say that they never fail to give me that relaxed feeling whenever I feel down. The idea of silent water flowing to the aquarium while the fishes swim underneath seems so peaceful to me.Designing the aquarium yourself can also become a creative outlet.

But taking care of the fish and the aquarium is no peaceful matter. It does take some level of dedication in order to run your aquarium as smoothly as possible. Though taking care of fish is not as hands-on as in other pets like dogs and cats, dedication is still needed, nonetheless.

The most important point you got to consider when keeping an aquarium is the issue of freshwater fishes versus saltwater fishes. Both types will require different tanks and different caretaking strategies. Most people will tell you that for beginners, freshwater fishes are the better option because they are way easier to take care of than saltwater fishes. This does not mean, however, that there is no value in taking care of saltwater fishes. The latter tend to be prettier and more colorful, hands down!

There are other factors to consider, but we will talk about them in the next posts. For now, think well if you really really want to have aquarium fish, because it takes quite an investment to keep them in the home, whatever the purpose is.
