Are you tired of all the old furniture located inside your home? Don't you have the money to purchase a new set of furniture? Then fret not, because there are a lot of ways out there to bring back life to your old furniture. How about giving them a shower of fresh paint? Getting furniture from multiple sources may have lead you to have a non-uniform set of furniture inside the home. Fresh paint can handle this well enough.

First, look at the finish of your furniture if you can even put paint on it. If your furniture has bad finish (i.e. it has cracks all over it), you should strip down this old finish before giving it a new paint job because if you do paint it in this condition, the cracks may still how up through the new paint. Otherwise, if the finish is good, then go ahead and proceed with the new paint.

Once you have determined that the furniture is good enough for a fresh shower of paint, remove any hardware in your furniture. Remove any part of the furniture that can be detached. This will make your job easier since you are mostly concerned with the bare material only. Rub the base of your furniture with a dry piece of cloth in order to remove any accumulated dust. Fill in any holes you see with wood putty and use sand paper in order to remove a bit of the glossy finish. This will allow the new finish to stick better.

Afterwards, it is time to paint. Use the appropriate paint for the material of your furniture. If you don't want to see the brush strokes on your furniture, use a spray paint and make sure that everything is covered completely in paint. If you have to make a second coat, then just do so. If you don't mind seeing the brush strokes, then stick with a flat brush.

Let the paint dry overnight before you apply protection. Use lacquer or clear-paste wax to protect your furniture well.
