Just wipe the furniture with a damp cloth on a weekly basis. Make sure to leave no water droplets as they leave stains and other marks. If your piece of painted furniture has stains on visible surfaces or nicks and scratches on it, you may want to make whatever repairs you can. Gently sand down any mars—making sure not to damage the undamaged finish than you have to. Carefully glue and clamp any loose joints to make sure they’re tight again. Match the paint as best you can or select a new color of paint and restore the piece to near-perfect condition. For stronger protection, add an oil finish. Use just a small amount furniture polish on the cloth and rub the surface in order to get a beautiful and shine and glow. When choosing a furniture polish, use the same type for each cleaning, either oil- or wax-based, to avoid polish smudges. Wipe in the direction of the grain of the wood whenever possible. If you love antiques, you'll need to be aware of their special needs. When the time to remove built-up wax has come, use either mineral spirits or synthetic turpentine with a soft, lint-free cloth. Clean the entire piece with the product, not only the soiled area. That way, you’re sure to restoring the original glow and glory of your wooden pieces. If you have leather furniture, the best way to keep it from cracking and drying out is to keep it away from the heat source and/or direct sunlight. As much as possible, make sure that it is cleaned with a damp sponge or soft cloth. Dust regularly to avoid dust accumulation. Taking good care of your furniture would mean furniture that look good that lasts longer. Remember, taking care of your furniture is nice, but don’t overdo it. It’s likely for over-maintained furniture to break down easily.
